SOLCOAT

Water-based Ceramic Composites

Solcoat is a heat & chemical resistant ceramic composite (to 1900ºC). It is an excellent corrosion resistant material in acid gases and condensates. It is ablation resistant and prevents scale creation.

Solcoat is suitable for mineral lining, ceramic gunning & spraying, ceramic insulating firebrick, cast-in-place ceramic, ceramic fiber and stainless steel surfaces. It is not intended for use submerged in molten material or on organic or graphite surfaces. Solcoat will not shrink back after application onto fiber linings.

Solcoat is available in three (3) forms; Green – with increased corrosion & temperature resistance; Black – with increased abrasion resistance; and White – with increased requirement for quality and colour stability of finished product (glass, Titanium white…)

Solcoat contains no VOC’s, is water based, can be air or/and airless spray applied. Solcoat’s technology insures important extension of lifetime of protected surface reducing down time and shut down costs.

Solcoat is a material designed for heat and corrosion protection of industrial equipment such as:

· Industrial chimney liners, boilers, glass and metallurgical furnaces, burners, incinerators, flue gas ducting, refinery process heaters, chemical process equipment…etc.

SURFACE PREPARATION

•Metal substrates must be blasted to a fresh surface by inert material and degreased.

•New cementous/refractory type surfaces can be dusted off, used cementous/refractory type surfaces must be blasted for elimination of used layer.

•Ceramic Substrates must be blasted by high hardness material.

MIXING

•Solcoat comes in three (3) parts and is water thinned. Mixing by screw agitator during 45 minutes.

•Pot life of mixed coating is 12 – 24 hours.

APPLICATION

Solcoat must be applied immediately on prepared surface in several (2-4) layers. Final thickness should be 0.12 – 0.25mm depending on substrate. Time between layers can be 30 minutes to 4 hours.

 

CURING

If operational temperature in equipment is higher than 520ºC, Solcoat is cured by process heat. If process temperature is lower heat might have to be applied initially.
